We are back on the road again! My company recently sent us back on America’s highways, pulling our 33′ Bullet Premier Ultra Light Bunkhouse travel trailer, with our three kids (not LITERALLY with our kids – We have a 2007 Chevrolet 2500HD with the 6.6L Duramax and the Allison Transmission). We left the dogs and cats with relatives.
We left our home town on February 8th and traveled to southern Idaho. We encountered snow, freezing rain, and temperatures below the 20’s. While much of the trip was very intense the worst was the short stretch between Ontario, Oregon and Boise, Idaho on I-84. It was transitioning from snow to rain (freezing). Due to the width of the axles on the trailer we were having trouble staying on the pavement until I found a trucker that was carving a pathway for us and we followed him all the way to Boise – at times going 65 mph! My wife counted 9 accidents in this stretch of freeway and thank God we were not one of them! By the time we reached Boise there was what I approximate to be 200 lbs. of ice on our trailer. Wow! I stopped at a Walmart and knocked it all off.
That night we finally reached our destination for the weekend – Twin Falls, Idaho! The next day was BEAUTIFUL! We set off again after a minor repair [which I may elaborate on at a later date].
