This was taken in the Old West/Ghost Town of Nevada City. Nevada City is in Alder Gulch and is home to many of the Gulch’s old west buildings – preserved by the Bovey Family of Montana. Alder Gulch as a community, in it’s mining heyday stretched for 14 miles. Nevada City is the collection of all the remaining buildings other than Virginia City, one mile away. There is a fee to see Nevada City, but it is WELL worth it!
This house is a veritable mansion that was the first home that C.A. Bovey purchased in his efforts to preserve the past of our western heritage. It was complete with a well-furnished and spacious Dining Room, a comparable Living Room on the other side of a large entry way with stairs leading to the Living Quarters upstairs. It was moved quite some distance, but remains very stable and you are able to go upstairs and view the rooms. There was a bathroom, complete with granite tub, and cast iron sink, and fixtures for running water.
